Provenance
Exceptional wood carries the signature of place, growth, climate, and time. APOC preserves that signature rather than sanding it into anonymity.
The Journey
01
Nature’s Beauty Tree Service operates across Cleveland’s neighborhoods — removing, trimming, and caring for the city’s urban canopy. When a tree must come down, we see not waste, but raw material with a century of memory.

02
Not every tree becomes a slab. We select for species, scale, figure potential, and structural integrity. The chosen logs are transported to our mill for the next step.

03
On one of our three sawmills, each log is opened for the first time. This is the moment of revelation — the grain pattern, the figure, the color hidden inside for decades. We mill to maximize the natural character of every piece.

04
Milled slabs are stickered and transferred to one of our two kilns, or air-dried for months. Controlled drying stabilizes the wood, prevents warping, and prepares the material for its next life.

05
Each slab is planed flat, edges cleaned or preserved in their natural state, surfaces inspected for structural soundness. The slab is now ready — either to enter inventory as raw material or to become the foundation of a commissioned piece.

06
Whether acquired as a raw slab or commissioned as a dining table, console, or sculptural installation — each piece is rooted in Cleveland and finished to last generations.

The Upstream
While others import wood from distant forests, APOC’s material comes from the streets, yards, and parks of Cleveland. Every slab in our inventory was once a living part of this city.
The same team that carefully removes a century-old oak delivers it to our mill, where it begins its second life.
